Celebrating the First Year of the Rental Assistance Calculator

Date
8 April 2025

The Agency celebrated the first anniversary of the launch of the Online Calculator for the Rental Assistance Program (FCHI-2) earlier this year

Last year, we completed the onboarding of all housing co-ops in the program. We can’t give enough thanks to the co-op managers, property management staff and others who helped us reach that important milestone.

Now that the Calculator has replaced CMHC’s worksheets, all co-ops will be expected to use it to complete their rental assistance calculations and submit their claims. Your work in filing current data and prior-year reconciliations has set the Calculator up for the next exciting chapter in 2025.

With webinars highlighting the Calculator's abilities and previous reconciliations loaded in, we believe that this year co-ops will save time and manage the program more easily by using the tool to its full potential.

The Calculator helps managers do things like adjust for missing or extra services, access reports showing members what they will pay each month for the next year and make mid-year changes easily if a household ‘s income goes up or down, or someone moves in or out.

The Agency’s rental assistance officers will be there to act as knowledge experts by answering questions and helping your co-op make the best use of the tool. We’ve also created a tutorial video series to help showcase what it can do for you.

Stay tuned as we continue to provide resources about the Rental Assistance Program on our website throughout the year.
