Changing of the Guard

Date
27 June 2022

The Agency’s Board of Directors recently said farewell to one of its directors from B.C., and hello to a new member on the west coast. David Lach was appointed to the Agency’s Board in 2018.  A man of many talents, David promised the Agency just one three-year term. Because he saw the value of stability, he stayed on for an extra year after the retirement of the Agency’s founding CEO, Alexandra Wilson. Directors and staff will miss David’s attention to detail, which never blinded him to larger issues.

Our newest B.C.-based director is Catherine Porter, who earned high praise from sector leaders as treasurer and then president of CHF BC’s board of directors. She also served on the board of COHO Management and, for seven years, as a non-resident director of the Athletes Village Housing Cooperative in Vancouver during that co-op’s early years. Catherine has also been active beyond B.C., serving for five years on the Finance Committee of CHF Canada. Her appointment brings the Agency’s Board of Directors welcome financial strengths, which she developed during her career at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. Welcome Catherine!

Vacancy Loss

The number of Agency clients reporting vacancy losses of more than $250 per unit per year has fallen 50% since 2007. While vacancy rates are local, these numbers show good management.
